Another Vegas shot. This time from within The Mirage where the latest Cirque Du Soleil, based on the Beatles, is showing. It's called 'Love'.

Not the best Cirque Du Soleil from our point of view...less acrobatics and feats of physical prowess, and more a visually stunning piece of choreography...still good though!. As is the way in Vegas, it isn't just the show that's amazing it's also the theatre and the entrance etc. This light display is at the end of the walkway to the foyer of the theatre, right next to a fantastic Beatles memorabilia store.

If we were to recommend one Cirque to see in Vegas it would have to be Ka at the MGM Grand...simply breathtaking.

Spent the last few days on a stag do in Chamonix. A different, but fantastic stag do with 2 days of 8 hours a day skiing and snow-boarding, and staying in a fantastic chalet in Chamonix. I say 'different', because 8 hours of skiing meant we were all in bed by about 10pm most nights (!!) and up at the crack of dawn...hence this shot.

Really difficult to meter, given the darkness at 6.30am...but did the best I could

Yeah, yeah...soooo long since the last one.
Bought an external flash for my camera this weekend, but haven't found a chance to really use it - guess I ought to go out at night and take photos ;-)
Anyway, a concerted effort on Saturday (day, not night!) resulted in a few shots good enough for the blog, including this one...Enjoy

Stairway To...2

Leeds, England

Took this whilst away in Leeds for the weekend trying out skiing at the xscape indoor real snow ski slope. Whilst in the hotel, I went down to get a drink from the bar and noticed the symmetry of the stairwell (yes, this was BEFORE I had the drink!). So went back to the room and grabbed the camera (complete with new Canon 17-40 f4 lens!)

When I named the image for the blog I called it 'Stairway to...' and then had a niggling feeling I'd called a previous entry that (See September - must be an obsession with stairs!), so this is 'Stairway To...2'

Vegas View

Well it's been far too long since my last post...combination of lots on at work, preparing for xmas, and for our holidays to.....yep, Vegas.

This shot was taken out of the window of our room on the 35th floor of Treasure Island. My main aim was to try and not get a reflection from the window! Hopefullly some more photos from Vegas when I get a chance to transfer them, and also some from the second leg of our holiday, skiing in Breckenridge Colorado!

Power Station A, Didcot
As you'll see from the previous photo, whilst down in Oxfordshire the other weekend, I went out to take some shots of the Didot Power Stations. These tracks are running next to Power Station A, and gave me another chance to experiment with a Black & White shot...
